Okaloosa County commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to open county beaches beginning May 1 on a limited basis amid the coronavirus pandemic. The county will access the COVID-19 threats each week and can expand or limit beach access at any time.

County officials say commercial vendors are still not allowed as they are considered non-essential under the governor’s order.

However, most everything else would be allowed as long as people are in groups of 10 or fewer. That includes sunbathing, working out, fishing and surfing.

All county beaches will be open from 6:30-9 a.m. and 4:30-7 p.m.
